We have an active PTFA (Parents, Teachers and Friends Association) at Woodthorpe who work tirelessly to fundraise for the school. All monies raised by the PTFA goes towards enriching the learning experiences of all the children.
Through activities such as the annual Summer BBQ, Easter and Christmas Fairs, Halloween Discos, Easter Egg Bingos and Ladies Pamper Evenings, the PTFA has in the past funded:
- whole school trips to the seaside
- trips to the panto
- a new library
- visits to the school by travelling theatre companies to name just a few
We are currently raising money to help fund some outdoor canopies to provide shaded areas to use for extended outdoor learning, playtime and lunchtime activities or as areas for quiet reflection out of the direct sunlight.
Another new venture is to offer a second hand uniform service and one of our parents, Mrs Tongue, has volunteered to run this on behalf of the PTFA. She would welcome any donations of uniform that your child has outgrown and is in good condition. You can either hand her your donations directly before or after school or hand them in to the School Office who will be happy to pass them on.
The PTFA meets once or twice a term, usually during the school day, in a very relaxed and informal setting. We have a coffee and discuss ideas for future or up and coming events. We are always looking for new members so if you would like to become involved in any way we would love to see you. Details of all future meetings will be posted on the online calendar on the website as and when they are arranged. We appreciate that many of our parents work and are not always able to attend meetings held in the school day so if you are unable to attend meetings but would still like to be involved please let us know, just leave your details at the School Office and we will be in touch.
