My name is Christine Shaw and I have served as a governor for the past 12 years. My election to Chair of Governors took place in October 2013 and I am immensely proud to serve one of the finest primary schools in the area in this capacity.
As a Church of England Primary School I am very proud of our ethos and values and the school enjoys an excellent reputation both within the local community and local authority. The Governing Body is very conscientious and supports the school well, having a strong commitment to high standards and a culture of reflection and evaluation which is at the heart of the school. Parents also hold the school in high regard and are very supportive in their children’s education.
The school’s latest OFSTED inspection in March 2014 highlighted the many strengths of the school and the Governing Body was delighted with the “Good” outcome. The school was inspected under the SIAMS framework (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) in October 2015 and was judged “Outstanding”.
The Governing Body is immensely proud of what the school has consistently achieved over the years and has a real determination to do even better in the future. We have great plans in place to take the school even further forward in the coming years.
In short, the Governing Body’s aim is to ensure Woodthorpe Church of England Primary School continues to provide its pupils with the best educational start in life, helping them to become happy, confident individuals who are given every opportunity to reach their full potential.
