Collective Worship

Collective Worship at Woodthorpe C of E Primary School is a time where the whole School comes together to share, to sing, to pray, to learn and to reflect.  However, during this period of Covid-19, we are holding daily Class Collective Worship within the individual pupil classes/bubbles in order to work within the current Government Guidelines

The themes for our Collective Worship come from The Values for Life programme, containing values which reflect both the Christian ethos of the school whilst upholding key British Values.  At Woodthorpe we promote mutual respect and hospitality to everyone in our school and community.  Collective Worship is led by different members of staff, the local Clergy and is supported by the children in the Worship Team.

Children take part in acts of worship at St John the Baptist Church in Staveley where parents, relatives and friends are always welcome to participate. Regular visitors to school include Fr Stephen Jones and Fr Adrian Arnold from Staveley Parish Church, and the Crackpot Assembly Company from the Staveley Ministry.  Members of the St John the Baptist Church congregation are also regular visitors to school and participate in our termly Mass, led by Fr Stephen and Fr Adrian. Opal the service dog even joins us for Mass, and the children love it when she visits.
